Well, its not to say I had that I had the most enchanting weekend. Far from it actually. Saturday saw me take a hike to Chinatown and Keong Saik Road in particular. No, I wasn’t there for fun, I had a site survey visit. Yes, working on Saturday is a norm. Actually, considering the vibrancy of Melbourne’s Chinatown, Singapore’s version pales in comparison. I don’t know, it could be that Singapore is nearly 70% Chinese-populated and 70% of Singapore IS a Chinatown. But there are always people like me – Chinese but somehow not so Chinese. Haha… I’m sure some of you understand.
As it turns out, Keong Saik used to be a red-light district just like Geylang and Desker. When we were there, our site was actually next to a brothel. And it wasn’t just any old brothel, I mean, there were ladies inside! How cool’s that? Sorry, I haven’t been to a brothel so its pretty fascinating, though one of the guys acted like it was really no big deal as if he went there all day. Duh… But there were ladies walking around the road, with umbrellas in bright daylight (that’s apparently how you identify a ‘lady of the night’). We saw 2 of such ladies, I think from mainland China and hey, they’re actually quite pretty. Its sad how they have to do this. I don’t think they want to, but they’ve no choice. And they’re controlled by the mafia too, so they can’t get out of it. Was telling a friend I would go evangelise to them. Bad idea, it would likely be the other way round. Haha… :)

Not just an innocent street you know? =P
Met DHD after that, he passed me the pirated cds he got for me in JB. We hung around Orchard for a while looking at eye candy and really, not doing much, enjoying life’s conundrums in general. Hmmm… DHD says he isn’t desperate. But somehow, I don’t believe that. Personally, I’ve gotten over my gay stage and I’m starting to look at girls now. But but… I might have someone in mind, and that’s stopping me from looking too much. Such is life… A big complicated mess. I wonder why God bothered to make me knowing how much I’d screw things up. Oh well, everybody needs a laugh now and then and God’s no different I guess.
We went for dinner after that. Jie’s now an MO (medical officer) and not a houseman anymore. I guess that’s a cause for celebration. I don’t get it, doctors study 6 years. Architects study 6 years. But doctors also earn 6, no actually 60 times more than architects. WTF?!!?!? I’m seriously considering dropping my ruler, measuring tape and drafting pens to do post-grad medicine. I heard they offer it in NSW and Adelaide. To all the doctors reading this: I’M NOT HAPPY!!! GRRRRR…
Here’s some pictures of dinner and you’ll see some very amusing footage. EVERYBODY drank, including Dad who was supposed to be driving. Tsk tsk…

Can you read the FOOD ITEMS?? Yee haa….

The lady of the moment…looking retarded

Yours truly swirling and smelling the alcohol.

Mum looking very drunk… bwahahahaha…Sunday’s always the Lord’s day and a slow day. I led Bible Study today. Philippians, one of me favourite. Not the best session cos I ended up talking to the wall most of the day. Funny how they don’t share my passion. But one man’s meat is another man’s poison so oh well… But for those of you who contributed, especially Denise, thanks. I appreciate that.I’ve just returned from a game of squash with Dad. He’s quite amazing and has quite a lot of stamina. Don’t underestimate him. I think I hit the wall with the racket twice in quick succession and he told me to cool down. Dammit! I HATE people who tell me to cool down cos it fires me all up once again. Its dinner time, mum’s got chocolate cookies and instant noodles for dinner… WTF?!?! Still, better than Oz where I had to cook for myself. Thanks mum! Love ya!
