And it was, in the words of Banquo.
Miko and I never reached the Song & Kelly function. Regrettably. I did very much want to see a fashion parade. Fashion design has always been a secret passion of mine – A backup alternative just in case I become a failure (as an architect).
I prefer the more conservative, earthly colours. Flowing, frilly stuff are not particularly my cup of tea. I like the sharp, starched look, formal over informal, black tie over casual. I have my moods of course. That said, if Miko or any other woman chose to wear frills, I wouldn’t complain.
The rain ruined everything pretty badly. We were stranded in the middle of the expressway and found ourselves taking shelter with bikers obviously unable to carry on with their journey. Poor Mik was freezing in the rain; she should have brought a pullover or something. Anyway, off came my coat and later my shirt. Come to think of it, we could have both caught pneumonia. She was still freezing, and chattering incoherently like a monkey on marijuana. That’s the reason why women shouldn’t be so skinny. Fat provides insulation. :) BUT I still like skinny women. Haha. The irony. “Jon wants to appear macho”.
When the rain subsided substantially, we went back to Mik’s place. She needed warmth, a hot cup of cocoa and fresh set of dry clothes. So while she took a nice shower, I cooked her some noodles. There’s nothing like sizzling Tom Yam soup in the middle of chilly weather. It warms your insides like brandy in a blizzard. Spending quality time with Mik was worth not going to the function I guess. We talked about everything under the sun. The way we’re tuned in on similar channels still surprises me. Of course, there are compromises here and there but does not perseverance improve one’s character? We had our first prayer together for which I will always thank God for. Because if nothing materializes for the long term, at least Miko will remember that our Lord is good, and mighty to save. I hope she will remember that on that rainy night, we prayed with great fervency. Above all, my love for her (and other friends obviously) will always be predominantly expressed by means of prayers and goodwill.
