The "A"s

The “A” level prelims are finally upon us. No, not for me, but for my younger sister and a few other friends. I have given up several Thursday and Friday nights in succession in order to keep my sister company while she studies, because mum and dad give night lectures. I don’t mind, in fact, I love it. Quite love it.

I only pray she will end up where she wants to be, not be forced to do some course she doesn’t want to do. Medicine at Cambridge is the first choice. Money wise, the pound is more than triple the Singapore dollar. That’s pretty scary, considering they treat their pound dollar for dollar. A bag of garlic. 3 pounds… that’s $9. Garlic is supposedly exotic (!) Maybe they’re scared of vamps or something.

If she does get in, I will be the proudest brother in the world. Elder sister and I have decided that we could chip in up to 3 years of tuition fees so as to relieve Mum and Dad’s financial burden. Since Medicine is a 6 year course, by the time she graduates she would be 24-25. Hopefully she will turn out to be a fine young woman.

All the lofty plans, so imagine how I felt when I saw this…

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man… the Singapore systems is just nuts. Either that, or the “A” level students are nuts.
